Organization All Around Me!

Technorati Tags:
I have a small group of close friends.  So it’s not uncommon when one starts doing something, another will pick up and do it too or get the idea to do something similar.  My very good friend Jessica at Feeding the Family for Less has been on a major kick of organizing her home in manageable sections at a time.  Check out her before and after pics.  She is dedicated! Tonight I saw on Facebook that she has been busily freezer cooking.

Then another friend is actively pursuing the idea of streamlining her household routines and getting organized.  I’m going to be her cheerleader, LOL!

A third friend within this group of really great ladies, who by the way, probably never sees themselves as having a current “whim” the way I do, is going vegan, almost completely raw food eating.  (I’m sure I didn’t get close to the official terminology of what she’s doing).  She recently blogged and included a picture of her newly organized and healthily stocked refrigerator.  That picture inspired something in me.  It reminded me that I should prep fresh foods for easy retrieval during the week.  It reminded me that I should pre-cook some meat over the weekend so I can low-carb a little easier through the week. It also reminded me that the shelves in my fridge were in dire need of cleaning!

See how it goes? Each one of us can spark idea in the other.  I love that!  But as a some-what still new to the “working Mom” way of life, my thinking goes a little askew.  (Is that a word?)  Here went my thought process tonight:

I should really say something to the girls and encourage them, let them know I’m rooting for them.  I know!  One of the absolute best things I know about being organized is from Flylady:  “What can I do tonight that will make tomorrow easier?”  Yes!  I will email, Facebook, text that and some other profound thing to my sweet friends.  First though, I should practice what I preach.  What can I do tonight that will make tomorrow easier?  Boy’s what do y’all want for breakfast?  (When they are out of school, yes, I do the short order cook thing and yes, I let them have breakfast in bed! But I’m sure not ready to be quizzed or criticized about it right now.  I do it and I like it!) Back to the story of getting things together tonight to help tomorrow start smoother.

O.k.  Now I should lay out my clothes for tomorrow. Since this is an almost anonymous blog, I will confess to something that sounds a little bit like a teenager.  I cut out magazine pictures that show fashion styles I like.  From time to time, I look at them before I shop so I have a few ideas in my head.  This remembrance is where my plan to encourage my friends got way off track.  I’m looking at a couple of pictures that I collected.  I noticed that everyone, big, little, tall, short, almost always are shown in heels and heels look great.  So decision that I’m stuck on now is

CAN I PULL THIS OFF ALL DAY AT WORK TOMORROW?

Yeah, that’s where my mind is right now.  I have a cute outfit pulled together and these shoes have only been worn once, so I’m attempting them tomorrow.

Another thing feeding my cute shoe obsession is something I found last night. Shoe Dazzle.  It’s a $40 per month service, but OMG, they have you take a profile quiz and then they show you your own personal show room of shoes, purses and jewelry.  If I understand correctly, you get your one pick for the month and then you are charged.  You then keep it for a month, mail it back and get your new pair.  If I had the funds and by that I mean lots of extra funds, I would so do this!  I can’t in any realm of possibility see myself doing it in this life, but wow, it’s fun!

Didn’t mean to, but I got completely distracted from cheering on my friends.  Maybe they will read this and know that I had good intentions.  What can I do tonight that will make tomorrow easier:  What’s for breakfast?  Should I set the table? Do I need to have things ready to go out the door?  What will I wear tomorrow?  And, If I’m going to be out of the house tomorrow, what’s the plan for supper; does it need to be thawed or put in the crockpot?  Love you girls!

Before I go, this is for the shoe lovers:  I have a equally cute outfit for Tuesday ready to go with some equally cute shoes that have seen way too little daylight!

Until next time,
